By: Jay Broderick - London, England... 1975... While touring with his band in Canada, Hawkwind bassist Lemmy Kilmister was arrested for drug possession. The band was having nothing to do with it, so they relieved Lemmy of his duties. In wonderous Rock and Roll fashion, Lemmy gave a big 'Fuck-You' and went on to form the greatest rock and roll band of all time... MOTORHEAD! And there it was... GONE! 50 years!

Since Lemmy's passing, Motorhead has put together a number of special events to commemorate, and enshrine the frontman's legacy forever. In one of these events, Lemmy became a permanent resident at Stringfellows Gentlemen's Club in December of last year. Now in 2025, the band has a number of events slated to celebrate their 50th Anniversary.

“It’s incredible to know that our music, and all it stands for, continues to resonate with so many people” guitarist Phil Campbell states, after Motorhead's newly released 2024 single "Lawman" reached the Top 10 in the UK, 45 years after the song's initial release on the band's 3rd studio album Bomber.

As part of the 50 year celebrations, Motorhead will release special 50th Anniversary editions of their best selling albums Overkill, Bomber, and Ace of Spades. With the inclusion of an exclusive poster, the limited edition prints will be available on February 28. You can preorder your copies HERE.

Additionally, with May 8 being International Motorhead Day, a special "Lemmy Forever" event will take place in his birthplace of Stoke-On-Trent. A statue of the Rock God, by famous sculptor Andy Edwards will be revealed, and his ashes placed by Phil Campbell. “To be able to see Lemmy further immortalized in his place of birth by Andy’s amazing statue is a huge deal" says Motorhead Manager Todd Singerman.

And finally for today, HOT OF THE PRESSES, a brand new high-def version of Motorhead's first ever performance on television has been released. From the October 25, 1978 episode of the UK show 'Top of the Pops', here's Motorhead doing "Louie Louie":

There are a lot more celebrations in store for Motorhead as the year progresses. As we know, so will you!
