By: Jay Broderick - A now legendary club was born in 1980 in London, England's west end. Businessman Peter Stringfellow, who booked some of the biggest acts in music in the 1960s, such as The Beatles, and Jimi Hendrix, founded Stringfellows and since its inception, it has become one of the go-to places in the UK for the rich and famous. Among those who loved to kick his feet up here was none other than Motorhead frontman, Lemmy Kilmister.
After having formed a great relationship with the gentleman's club's owner, Lemmy was sure to be found at Stringfellows, whenever he was in London. Even after having moved to the US, Lemmy made sure to stop into his favourite local during Motorhead's European Tours. And Lemmy never missed a beat, up until his very sad and unfortunate passing 9 years ago on December 28, 2015. A massive blow to Rock and Roll.
On December 18, 2024, Lemmy will once again return to his favourite London haunt, and this time, he will stay forever. In a series entitled "Lemmy Forever", whose aim is to immortalize this icon of the music world, Lemmy will take his place at Stringfellows, where some of the GOAT's ashes will be placed in a replica urn, and proudly displayed.
Motorhead manager Todd Singerman shared, “Stringfellows always held a special place in Lemmy’s heart. He loved the rock’n’roll spirit Peter brought to the club, he loved the relaxed environment, and he certainly loved the view. I know he’s relieved he can get back to enjoying one of his favorite places on the planet!”
Honouring Lemmy, Motorhead guitarist Phil Campbell will be on hand at the December 18th celebration at Stringfellows, which will include food, drinks, rock and roll, and beautiful women. If you happen to be in London on December 18th, pop on in for the celebration.
Personally, a planned trip to the UK in 2025 certainly now has another point of interest to add to the itinerary.
