By: Mike Johnston - There's no such thing as a free lunch. There is, however, such thing as a free concert... at least if you're at Toronto's Monarch Tavern on July 10th. The only strings attached to Napoleon's free show will be to guitars.
At a time where concerts (and lunches for that matter) cost a fortune, you won't want to miss this.
Alternative Press called them one of the 23 bands in Canada keeping the scene alive. Formed in 2018, Napolean has trademarked an aggressive, innovative brand of post-hardcore. The four-piece band hits like a truck, with their heart pounding live shows gathering attention around Ontario.
Napoleon has been diligently curating a heavy and dynamic library of nearly 20 singles & EPs. Recent work, Napoleon Volume II, is a three part explosion. Each track offering a clamorous but purposeful cacophony of noise. Lead singer and guitarist Jon Elmaleh runs a vocal gauntlet through these tracks. His signature vocal dichotomy offers a unique but consistently heavy sound to each submission.
As part of Golden Horns 3, with Raider and Abysmal Whore, Napolean's free show comes at a time when ticket prices have reached an all time high. In 2025, Pollstar reported the average concert ticket price has reached over $130 dollars. That's an eye watering 36% increase since 2019 according to the AMW Group.
Patti Smith once said that Punk Rock is the ultimate expression of freedom. Napoleon remains true to that ethos, and have bucked an industry price gouging trend.
After their show at The Monarch, Napolean carries on to dates in Corbyville, London and Windsor. Make sure to check out their website for full details.
