Newmarket, ON - The song does indeed remain the same when you're listening to Toronto’s premier Led Zeppelin tribute band Zepology.

The small crowd at Newroads Performing Arts Centre in Newmarket did not deter this incredibly talented quartet, based out of Toronto, from putting on a show worthy of an arena sized venue. In fact, by the third number, lead singer Nello Virdo had this eclectic crowd ranging from Boomers to Millennials (and maybe even a few Gen Zs) eating out of the palm of his hand.

Running the gambit of songs found on Led Zeppelin's Song Remains the Same as well as other Zep classics, Zepology’s 2 hour set showcased the brilliant vocals of Virdo along with guitarist Gary McDougall’s almost note for note riffs on both the standard Les Paul and the iconic Gibson double neck. An added nod to the great Jimmy Page came when McDougall busted out the theremin during the band’s final song of the night.

Not be out done though, the incredibly tight rhythm section of Tim Haynes on bass and Elliot Pantich on drums (so tight in fact that the crowd were yelling for Haynes to step away from the drums and into the spotlight) layed down the beat that drove songs like “Immigrant Song” and “Kashmir” right through the chests of the audience. Playing double duty, Haynes traded the bass for the organ on a few songs including the crowd pleasing “Stairway to Heaven”, where his sound truly made the track glitter with gold.

The music was incredible, the vocals were brilliant, but the best part of watching Zepology on stage is seeing the connection these guys have with each other and the fun they obviously have paying tribute to one of the most iconic rock bands of all time. Both Haynes and Pantich didn't stop smiling through the whole show, while up front, Virdo and McDougall commanded the stage with sheer pleasure, playing off each other and the crowd for a night of incredible music.
