Toronto, ON - According to their Facebook page, New York thrashers Nuclear Assault have called it quits after and on and off career of 37 years. The band was formed in New York City in 1985 but have had a couple previous breaks in their tenure. The only news that was available was a post containing a headstone with the band's name and their years of service. After the news broke earlier this morning, it seems as though the band's social media has been taken down.
No official statements have been made by the band, however according to ultimate-guitar.com, a Decibel Magazine interview from earlier this year with bassist Danny Lilker, it seems as though life has happened for the band members and other commitments have taken over.
DISCOGRAPHY
Over the bands 38 years, they had released only 6 studio albums, but have gained scores of fans with their speed and thrash metal.
1986: Game Over
1988: Survive
1989: Handle with Care
1991: Out of Order
1993: Something Wicked
2005: Third World Genocide
We all wish that life would slow down. We don't want the things we love to see their end. Unfortunately though, that's life and at some point, all things must come to an end. Perhaps this is just another break for the band, but I think it's unlikely in this case. Here's to hoping I'm wrong.
