Toronto, Ontario - A few weeks ago, LoudTO wrote a piece about heartsupport, a not for profit foundation created by August Burns Red frontman Jake Luhrs that helps raise awareness for mental health through live music. The first ever international event for the foundation will take place on Saturday November 23, 2024, right here in our great city of Toronto. Local indie-rock band Wishwell will be headlining this fantastic night of music, and awareness.
Wishwell is lead by Taylor Simpson, a mental health and suicide awareness advocate. There is no doubt this partnership between the band and the HeartSupport foundation was to be inevitable. Through his music, Simpson hopes to provide a safe haven for anybody, and everybody who struggle with mental health. Three other bands will be joining Wishwell for this event on Saturday evening.
With promises of bringing a typical high-energy set, Nicole Haber is another rising Toronto musician. Having worked with some high profile talent, the electro-pop-punk artist's music has been reaching hundreds of thousands of listeners.
Another Toronto based band, Lady Marge is a sextet, comprised of Parker Merlihan (guitars and vocals), Jacob Leslie (drums), Sam William Thomas (keyboards), Sam Grant (guitars), Jediah Currie (bass), and Omar Yazaw (sax). Adding their full sounding smooth folk-rock vibes will bring a completely different element to the lineup.
Kicking off One Beat at the Collective Arts Taproom will be Toronto indie-pop singer DAPHNE. Having played venues like TD Music Hall, this artist will be sure to have the crowd up on their feet, and dancing with her upbeat, catchy tracks. Her light heartedness is a certain elixir to the mental health struggles of life.
The 4 bands taking part in this special event have a target goal to raise $1000 for Mental Health. At $20 per ticket, it's a fantastic opportunity for a night out in the city, take in some live music, and help out a great cause.
You can grab your tickets here.
