A Night of Pure Metal: Arch Enemy and The Black Dahlia Murder Take Over Toronto

By: Ashley Depaz
Toronto, Canada - Toronto was in for a serious night of metal as Arch Enemy and The Black Dahlia Murder brought their 2026 co-headlining tour to the Danforth Music Hall on November 1st. With SEPTICFLESH, CRYPTA, and Thrown Into Exile rounding out an absolutely stacked lineup, the night delivered five bands, five distinct sounds, and no shortage of intensity.
Thrown into Exile

Opening the night, Thrown into Exile wasted no time setting the tone. Bringing a heavy blend of modern metal, aggressive riffs, and crushing vocals, the band delivered an energetic performance that gave the crowd plenty of reasons to pay attention. Their sound balances groove and technical musicianship with an aggressive edge, making them a strong addition to an already impressive lineup.
The band brought the kind of intensity you want from an opening act: loud, confident, and ready to make an impression.

CRYPTA

CRYPTA followed with an absolutely fierce performance. The Brazilian death metal band brought relentless energy, blistering guitar work, and an unmistakable stage presence. Their combination of speed, precision, and aggression made for a seriously powerful set, proving that they were more than capable of holding their own on a bill this heavy.

SEPTICFLESH

SEPTICFLESH brought a different kind of atmosphere to the evening. Blending death metal with symphonic and orchestral elements, their sound added a darker, cinematic dimension to the lineup. Their performance was massive, theatrical, and unmistakably heavy, giving the audience something a little different while keeping the intensity firmly in place.

The Black Dahlia Murder

The Black Dahlia Murder took things up another notch. Known for their relentless melodic death metal sound, the Detroit band delivered the kind of fast-paced, guitar-driven performance that has made them such a favourite in the extreme metal community.
With Brian Eschbach now taking on vocal duties and Ryan Knight back in the lineup, the band continues to carry its signature sound forward while honouring the legacy of the late Trevor Strnad. Their performance was a reminder of just how much energy and musicianship this band brings to the stage.

Arch Enemy

And then came Arch Enemy...
With Lauren Hart now fronting the band, there was plenty of excitement surrounding this chapter of Arch Enemy. Stepping into such an established role is no small feat, but Hart brings an incredible combination of vocal power, presence, and confidence. Her ability to move between crushing growls and commanding stage presence makes her a natural fit for the band's sound.
Watching her take control of the stage was a highlight in itself, and she brought an intensity that kept the crowd locked in throughout the performance. As one of the women leading the charge in extreme metal, Hart is an exciting addition to a band that continues to push forward.
