By: Michael Drukarsh - In 1994 Adam Sandler introduced The Festival of Lights to the world when he played the "Chanukah Song" for the first time on Saturday Night Live. As he pointed out there are so many songs about Christmas but no one outside of the Jewish faith really knows about "Ma'oz Tzur", "I Have a Little Dreidle" or "Dreidle Dreidle Dreidle".

Along with Sandler's Chanukah offering, there is a smattering of heavy metal Chanukah songs to get the latke lovers into the holiday spirit.

To get bubbie into the festive mode I suggest starting your playlist with "Jewish Metal" by 66Samus. This minute and a half guitar shred also features blast beats and a calculator flute that turns Hava Nagela on its head.

Sugar Thief's "Heavy Metal Dreidle" puts a metal twist on the traditional dreidle song. Instead of being made out of clay, this dreidel is made out of heavy metal, because that's how they play.

"Hanukkah, Oh Hanukkah" by Tragedy takes a traditional holiday song and thrashes it up! Tragedy is a metal tribute to the Bee Gees and beyond, I guess offering latkes to Satan is the beyond part.

If you are looking for that one gift that just keeps giving then look no further than Gods of Fire's "Hannukah Gone Metal". An epic eight tracks of meshugana metal to ensure you have eight head banging days of Hannukah fun! With songs "No Gelt, No Glory", and "Spin for the Blood of our Elders", the whole family can gather around the chanukiah and air guitar the night away!

To all those that light the chanukiah, Chag Sameach! And to all the LoudTO readers and subscribers, Happy Heavy Metal Holidays to you and yours!
